Container Sizing, Types & Condition Grades

Everything you need to know about dimensions, cubic capacity, and quality ratings.

What sizes of shipping containers does Container Hub LLC offer?

We supply standard and high cube freight containers nationwide in all primary industry configurations:

  • 10ft Standard: 10'L x 8'W x 8'6"H (Compact storage for tight spaces & job sites)
  • 20ft Standard: 20'L x 8'W x 8'6"H (The most popular versatile all-purpose unit)
  • 40ft Standard: 40'L x 8'W x 8'6"H (High-volume warehouse overflow & commercial freight)
  • 40ft High Cube (HC): 40'L x 8'W x 9'6"H (Extra 1 ft of vertical clearance for machinery and custom builds)
  • Specialty Units: Double Door, Open-Side / Side-Door, Open-Top, and Refrigerated (Reefer) containers.
What is the difference between "One-Trip", "Cargo-Worthy", and "Used" containers?

One-Trip (New): Manufactured overseas and shipped to the US with a single dry cargo load. Pristine condition with immaculate paint and zero corrosion.

Cargo-Worthy (CW): Inspected and certified to meet international maritime shipping standards (CSC plated). Guaranteed wind and water-tight with cosmetic signs of commercial service.

Used (WWT): Retired from ocean lines but 100% wind and water-tight. Features surface dings, scratches, and patina, offering the highest square-footage storage value.

Are all your containers guaranteed to be Wind & Water Tight (WWT)?

Yes. Every container sold by Container Hub LLC is rigorously inspected prior to dispatch to ensure it is 100% wind and water-tight, rodent-proof, with intact rubber door gaskets, functional locking bars, and solid marine-grade plywood subfloors.

What is a High Cube container and why should I choose it?

A High Cube container provides 9'6" of exterior height compared to 8'6" on a standard container. That extra vertical foot is ideal if you are installing interior insulation and drywall, converting the unit into a container office/workshop, or storing tall machinery and stacked pallets.

Delivery, Access & Site Preparation

How our tilt-bed transport works and how to get your drop site ready.

How much clearance is required for tilt-bed truck delivery?

Our specialized tilt-bed trailers slide the container off the rear of the truck. To deliver safely, we require:

  • 20ft Containers: At least 60–75 feet of straight-line clearance.
  • 40ft Containers: At least 100–120 feet of straight-line clearance.
  • Width & Height: A minimum of 10–12 feet in width and 14–16 feet of overhead clearance free of tree limbs and low wires.
What type of foundation or site prep do I need?

Shipping containers bear all their weight on the four corner castings. We recommend placing your container on a level surface such as:

  • Crushed packed gravel or asphalt pad.
  • Poured concrete slab or concrete footings at the 4 corners.
  • Treated 6x6 railroad ties or heavy-duty paver blocks beneath the corner posts.

This prevents ground moisture from contacting the floor and ensures the container stays square so doors open and close effortlessly.

Can I choose which way the container doors face on the truck?

Yes! When placing your order, let our dispatch team know whether you want the doors loaded facing the cab (doors come off last) or facing the rear (doors touch the ground first) to match your driveway or job site layout.

What is the typical delivery turnaround time?

Standard in-stock containers are typically delivered within 3 to 7 business days from order confirmation. Expedited delivery is often available depending on depot inventory and driver scheduling in your region.

Pricing, Orders & Payment Methods

Transparent quotes, inspection photos, and hassle-free transactions.

How are shipping container prices determined?

Container pricing is determined by three main factors: size (10ft, 20ft, 40ft, High Cube), condition grade (New/One-Trip vs. Used/Cargo-Worthy), and delivery distance from our regional intermodal depot to your zip code. We provide all-inclusive, upfront quotes with no hidden fees.

Can I see photos of the exact container before making a purchase?

Absolutely. Upon request, our sales coordinators can provide high-resolution photos of available inventory in your nearest depot showing doors, exterior panels, corner castings, and interior subfloors.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express), bank wire transfers, ACH electronic payments, and verified certified bank checks for commercial purchases.

Modifications, Security & Permits

Lock boxes, roll-up doors, office conversions, and municipal zoning rules.

What custom modifications can Container Hub LLC perform?

We provide full custom container fabrication, including:

  • Steel roll-up doors and commercial walk-in man doors.
  • Dual-pane security windows with burglar bars.
  • Spray foam or batt insulation and finished interior paneling.
  • Complete electrical packages (LED lighting, outlets, breaker boxes, HVAC heating/cooling).
  • Heavy-duty security lock boxes and custom exterior paint coats.
Do I need a permit to put a shipping container on my property?

Permit requirements depend on your local city or county zoning regulations. In most rural and industrial areas, temporary storage containers require no permit. In residential zones or commercial properties, a simple zoning permit or temporary use permit may be required. We recommend checking with your local municipal building department.

How secure are shipping containers against theft and break-ins?

Shipping containers are constructed from ultra-durable 14-gauge Cor-Ten anti-corrosive steel and are virtually impenetrable to standard break-ins. When equipped with a welded steel lock box and heavy-duty puck padlock, the shackle is fully enclosed, preventing bolt-cutters from accessing the lock.
